Storm Windows Limited design, manufacture and install secondary glazing in domestic and commercial buildings.
However, their business is far from the secondary glazing fitted in the early days of the 'double glazing' boom of the '70s. Indeed, Storm Windows began as an engineering company and has diversified to specialise in bespoke secondary glazing for classic, historic and listed buildings where every application is different, and the aesthetics and quality of the finished product and installation are paramount.
A recent installation in a new housing development next to a high-speed train line demonstrated the versatility and efficiency of the secondary glazing used. By installing slim-framed, air-tight systems, Storm Windows significantly reduced transmitted noise, meeting WHO standards for noise in a dwelling place whilst retaining the architect’s vision for the window design. Smiths Profiles worked with Storm Windows to ensure a consistent supply of aluminium profiles that make up the different systems for each application. Installation dates are often arranged weeks or months in advance, particularly for commercial applications such as in English Heritage or National Trust properties, and 'on-time' supply of the aluminium extrusion framing is critical to achieving the promised deadlines.
